THE IRISH PROBLEM.
UNITED SERVICE TELEGRAMS. DUBLIN ATTACKS. (Received this day at 9.50 a.m.) LONDON, August 19. Dublin was disturbed last night by heavy firing and intermittent explosions. Rebels snipers and machine gunners were active in all parts. Free State troops patrolled the streets and sentries were posted in the principal thoroughfares. To-day Government warned the residents to remain indoors as ail organised rebel attack on the city was believed to be imminent. Pitiable conditions prevail in Kerry as a result of the wholesale destruction of railways and bridges by rebels. Foodstuffs are scarce and as fresh supplies cannot be transported many people are threatened with starvation.
IRISH GUERILLAS. LONDON, Aug. 19. Irish Irregulars who were defeated in the field, are developing guerilla tactics, bv forming flying columns composed of thirty to forty men. Free Staters repulsed the rebels at Ga.lballv capturing large quantities of arms and ammunition. Free Staters also occupied Mneroom and Mill street. COLLINS'CAR BOMBED. •Received this day at 12.25 p.m.) LONDON, August 20. Government’s precaution last' night frustrated a threatened rebel outbreak but Collins’ car was determinedly ambushed between Greystones and Dublin. A bomb was thrown, followed by a fusilade of bullets. The driver was wounded, but Collins had left the car earlier.
