There is a good demand for lamb at former prices, except for hgavy-weight, which is in, competition with Tight-weiglit mutton. Beef supplies are .small. Present quotations arc:—-New Zealand mutton — Ligh-weigiit, Od to Gjd; medium, ojjd to (JJd j * lieavy-ivdiglit, 4)d to s)d ; ewes, 4d to I)d. New Zealand lamb— Best quality light-weight Iljd, heavyweight IORI, ordinary 10|d, second class quality IORI. New Zealand heel —Hinds 63J, fores 3J-d per lb.

BUTTER. The market is steady with more inquiry. ‘ The market is quiet and prices are' slightly weaker. The official quotations are: —English, finest farmers IQSs to 110 per cwt (Hid to ,1s per lh). Canadian, coloured 84s to 88f per cwt (9d to 9}d per lh) ; white 88s to 90s per cwt (9}d to OJ-d per lh). New Zealand, coloured, 81s to 81s nee cwt (83d to 9(1 per lh). Australian, coloured, 80s to 82s per cwt (91.1 to H'jd nor lh). HEMP. The Manila market is firm with more inquiries. “J” grade, August to October shipments sold up to £32 •*»« per ton. ‘‘G” grade is quoted at £3; 10s per ton, value August to Oetobei Shipments, “ft” is quoted at £33 tor. per ton. Output from .January T to July 31 was 094,000 .hales, as against 433,000 for tlie same period last year. Stocks in London, on July 31 totalled 11,019 hales, compared'with 40,172 on January 1. The New Zealand market is firmer, with more inquiry from consumers, hut practically no business is being transacted. 11 ighpoiiits, August to October shipments, quoted at £33 per ton; fail* £3l 10s. Stocks in l/,n'don nil July 31 were 311 tolls, as compared with 30-1 tons on January 1. WOOL.
