The railway executives and strike leaders are meeting in New York today to endeavour to reach a settlement. Violence has broken out in various parts of the country. Troops at Yoliet, Illinois, were fired on. Martial law may be restored at Clinton, Illinois, in consequence of armed clashes between strikers and strike breakers. Non-Un-ion men were badly beaten at Cedar Rapids, lowa, and Janesville, Wisconsin. Philadelphia anthracite miners are conferring with owners. It is understood an agreement is practically reach, ed, whereby 155 thousand workers will return to the mines.
