MJBTRALIAN AND N.Z. CABLE ASSOCIATION. STRIKE TROUBLES. NEW YORK, Aug 15. The “New York Times” Washington correspondent states: —“The Railway Company Executives have been asked to consider the Federal Administration's suggestion to consent to a voluntary Government receivership on those railroads that are unable to operate. The Government will oive the other railroads protection where needed. The Railway Executives state they will accept proposals for further conference if the Government have any new definite proposals for a settlement.

It is understood (says the “Times”) that the Workers’ Brotherhoods will propose that all strikers be taken hack with their seniority rights, second to those employees who have re- ' mained at work. NEW YORK, Aug 16.

The Western and Kentucky railway dislocation is serious, and it was considered at a Cabinet meeting today.

Hon Mr Dougherty (Attorney-Gen-eral) has 'made an appointment of an Assistant who will go to Los Angeles and direct the Federal Government’s legal forces in the California, Arizona and New Mexico troubles,
