The criminal statistics, ns stated in the Police report for last year, show the principal increase to have keen as follows:—' Assault (indecent) 41 False pretences 154 House or shop breaking 108 Receiving stolen goods 33 Breach of peace 43 Indecent exposure 00 Vagrancy olfences 120 Failing to maintain wives and families 201 Stowing away on ships 50 Selling liquor after closing hours 51 Supplying liquor to persons under 21 years <0 Being found on licensed premises after lioui's 3(b There were decreases in the follow ing:— Assault (common) Mischief I24 _ Using profane, indecent, or obscene language 103 Embezzling cargo H Breach of prohibition order 279 The prosecutions I" 1 ' ‘drunkenness i tlie main police districts were: Auckland Wellington 24,8 Olii'istchurdli .. 1 Hid Dunedin Invercargill - > ’E The convictions against, hotel-keeper were: Auckland fi.
