“A remarkable feature of the lambing season this year,” remarked a large run-holder to a Manawatu “Standard” reporter, “is the phenomenally large number of twins and triplets recorded. AJpers was cross-examin-ing n witness who had given evidence to the effect that his sister had ticked him. “You were kicked in tho abdomen, you say?” asked Mr Alpors. “No,” replied the witness—“in the stomach.” “Will you kindly inform the Court what is the difference?” queried Mr AJpers. “Certainly,” said the witness, a chemist. “The abdomen is down below (indicating its position), and the stomach is above it.” “The stomach is where tho food goes.” went oil the witness, “and the abdomen is where tlio bowels are.” Air Alpers said that if a woman was wearing a modern skirt it would he physically impossible for her to kick the witness as alleged. Mr Myers said he understood that modern skirts were not tight at the bottom. “But there are modern skirts and modern skirts,” remarked his Honour Mr .Justice Adams.
