A STEAMER FIRE.
(Received this day" at 8 a.m.) NEW YORK, Aug 12. At an early hour this morning no further word had been received from the Adriatic. White Star officials think the fire is .still burning in the hold, though under control. The liner’s la.st report said they had resumed full speed and expected to dock in New‘York on Sunday. A BLOCK. (Received this day at 8 a.m.) NEW YORK. Aug 12. It was learned later that the railway executives committee will inform Mr Harding that they accept the proposal to attend the strike, with the seniority question referred to the Railway Labour Board, providing the Board adhers to the July decision that men who left work in defiance of o Board cannot be regarded as employees of tbe railways. As, however, the shopmen insist that seniority rights be restored a settlement is apparently blocked.
