On a cluirgo of perjury, John Thomson, of Taueru, license of a local hotel was to-day committed for trial at the Maxterton sitting of the Supreme Court in September. This is a sequel to a conviction recorded against Thom son on April 28th for supplying liqour to William Holme on Sunday, March 26th. The accused had sworn in evidence that Holme was not at his hotel on that date, and that the beer he sold him was taken away on Saturday. The case for the police is based on the alleged facts that Holme was not at Tauero Hotel on Saturday, March 26th., and that he was there and paid for drinks on the Sunday. The accused pleaded not guilty, and reserved his defence. Bail was fixed at one surety of £l5O, and self in £l5O.
