It is announced that the American Davis Cup team will consist of Tildon, Johnston, Williams and Richards, Williams will bo captain. This choice of Richards over Washburn came as a surprise, since by the recent double tests ■between Tildcii pmd Richards against Washburn anil Williams, each won a match and while Richards is a sensational young player, Washburn has a better knowledge of Davis Cup conditions.

In their match Coohet defeated Wood 6-1, 3-0, 6-0, 7-9, 6-4. In the third sot Wood became wild, and Coohet speeded up. gathering in his opponent's shots all over the court. "Wood grew wilder, and never won a game. In tho fourth be recovered bis form, and was steadier, but Coeliet played a dazzling game. Both men gave an exhibition of speefacular tennis. At seven all. Wood played superlatively, and. taking tho last, two games, won tho set. In the deriding set Wood showed remarkable strength for a while and Coohet appeared to be weakening under the strain, but he recovered, and taking four out of the last five games won the match.
