In the middleweight contest Laurie O’Neill’s weight was announced ns list, and Dick Meatle’s list. 2Th. Meale scored early with a left to the face and back-moved some heavy hooks from O'Neill. Later there were some good exchanges, of which Meale had the better. Ho used his loft well, and brought over the right to the jaw. Tt was a hotly contested round. The second round saw O’Neill score with a couple of good left hooks to the face and rights to the body. Meale was a frequent scorer with a straight left, but failed to lodge his rigid to advantage. O’Neill continued to book with his left in the third session, arid connected several times. Meale’s left was also again much in evidence, and he landed a stiff right to the jaw. The last round was well contested, Imth men trying for a knock-out. The verdict for Meale was a popular one.
