A conference between the Broken Hill Proprietary and the Newcastle, Steel Works management and employees. in connection with a. reduction of wages has proved abortive. The men refuse to agree to any scheme which does not provide a refund when the works show a profit. The conference result is that the management has made application to the Arbitration Court for a reduction of wagso.
