Manslaughter Charge.

At the Supreme Court, the charge of 'manslaughter preferred against Douglas Creep Dent, aged 21, as the outcome of the death of Andrew Peter Bussell (liven, aged 12, who was knocked down by a motor ear, alter a lighting from a trarncar in Mnnakau Hoad on May 21st., Parnell, the evidence for the Crown was to the effect that the ear had stopped, and the motor came up at a speed of 20 to 25 miles per hour. One witness remarked to the accused :—“That is no speed to he travelling at!” Dent replied:—“l wasn’t going.fast. Besides, there is the tram stop”—indicating an incoming tramstop some 35 yards away. The motorman of the tram said the deceased loft the tram immediately it stopped, which was at the proper place. Mr Leary for the accused said the defence .would fie that the deceased jumped off .the .trarncar while it was travelling at from six to ten miles an hour ,and, as lie did so, the motor car came up at a speed of ten to 15 miles an Hour Fvidenee would ho given that deceased, while jumping ojF, did
