Judge Stringer considered the jury might dismiss from then Lind; the contention of the Crown thnt the accused was travelling at an ex- , cessive speed'. His honour agreed with both Counsel , that such a demonstration could only | he misleading. It would he impossible ; to reproduce the conditions of the night j in question, and represent the scene of accident completely. On his advice j the request was withdrawn. • Five minutes later the jury announced an acquittal, adding a rider expressing the opinion that motors should ho sufficiently lighted to safeguard the public, and that the Crown should rigidly enforce the law regarding cycle lighting.
