AUSTRALIAN AND N.Z. CABLE ASSOCIATION. LONDON, Aug 7. The Reparations Commission has postponed the actual decision and recommendation until .'liter the London Conference. A GERMAN APPEAL. LONDON, 'August 6. The “Daily News” Berlin correspondent understands the German Government has despatched a last-minute appeal to Mr Lloyd George, emphasising the German people’s readiness and good will to make reparations, but saying patience and breathing time are necessary.
The appeal says that failure to reocn a satisfactory- settlement on the reparation questions, coupled with economic difficulties, is inducing masses of Germans to desert democracy for reaction. The appeal stresses Germany’s great sen-ice to Europe, and to humanity in general, by constituting herself a barrier against Bolshevism, and says this is another ground why an attempt should be made to find a solution of tlie reparations question in a Way which will not drive the German people to despair i I
french agitation. PARIS, AugustJ7. The Reparations Commission’s resolution adds: “We do not consider it necessary to impose further conditions for the continuation of a moratorium, hut it will be necessary in the very near future to determine payments, and what payments Germany shall make in 192-5 and in 1924.”
“Le Temps,” referring to the Commission’s resolution, in an agitated editorial says : —“lf the British Government insists upon this plan, Britain will gravely endanger the interests of the French creditors, who are compelled by the Treaty of Versailles to pay debts to clearing offices. French creditors rim the risk of entire dispossession.
LONDON CONFERENCE. LONDON. August 6. M. Poincaire, Premier of France, and others, including Signor Schanzer (Italy) have arrived. Signor Schanzer informed the “Daily Telegraph” that while Italy is unable to speak about the reparations until she lias heard the British and French proposals, it is certain that the reparations and the other indebtedness must be considered together, there being an intimate connection,
