Exception is Lukcii by Mr Doherty of Wellington, Director ol the Wanganui YVopllen Mills, to what he calls the unduly ojrtimistic view expressed as the opinion of the Directors, in message limn Wanganui. Air Doherty states he has gone thoroughly into the woollen mills question. visiting scores ot mills in Australia and United Kingdom last year, and interviewing most of the leading machine makers of the Old Country. He i s strongly of opinion that the Wanganui Coy should lie wound up, and in response to very many solicitations from shareholders, lie is moving in that direction and believes this nill lie welcomed by a majority ul tbe shareholders. Last week he nominated two shareholders to contest the seat ot two retiring directors, who me also again standing. This is to give the shareholders an opportunity of expressing their approval or otherwise -of the ClmirmAll’s policy. It they appoint two new directors. Air Claude Junes, architect, and Air Hugh Y’ickorman, civil engineer, both of Wellington, it will lie taken ns expressing themselves in favour of liquidation, which Air.Doherty lieliove s most of the shareholders favour.
