EASY WIN OVER METROPOLITAN.

SYDNEY, _ August 2. Barely 2,000 people attended the Rugby match, New Zealand versus Metropolitan. The weather was fine but cloudy. Metropolitan, with a strong southerly at their backs, failed to check the aggressive movements of the All Black forwards in tho first half, but the visitors incurred a number of penaL ties for off-side play. Mingay opened the locals’ attacks with a try shortly after the commencement, Richardson replying with a try after a fine run from half-way. Nicholls converted. O’Brien terminated a forward rush with a try in the corner and the spell ended: Now Zealand 8, Metropolitan 3. Tnc second half was open and fast, hut devoid of pep and vim. The All Blacks took charge in the first twenty minutes, and that a number of brilliant passing rushes by the local backs called forth all the defensive ability of the visitors. Richardson again distinguished himself in two really brilliant individual efforts, toeing the ball from half way and making three tries for tho game. Dawson responded to Richardson’s first try in this spell with a diagonal sprint which Beilis magnificently terminated at the corner flag l,y a fine tackle. Richardson with a characteristic effort, scored his third try, but Nicholls failed with the kick; and the gome ended, New Zealand 24, Metropolitan 6.
