POLLARD’S PICTURES. KATHERINE. MacDONALD DO-NIGHT. With a story, star and production that hid fair to set the pace for screen attractions for months to come “Passion’s Playground” adapted from the famous story of Monte Carlo “The Guests of Hercules” by C. X. and A. M. Williamson, null be shown at the Princess Theatre to-night. Despite her remarkable past successes, Miss MacDonald has never been seen in a picture that equals “Passion’s Playground” for dramatic moments. Reared in a convent, the blood of a gambler in her veins, unknowing of the ways of the world, Miss MacDonald takes tho part of Mary Grant who leaves the convent upon receipt of her inheritance to make hor way to Monte Carlo. Here Mary becomes involved in the schemes of a set of society whose efforts to ensnare her prove to he replete with thrills. Perhaps no other fiotionised work dealing with the attempts of titled personages and wealthy men and women from all parts of the world to stake their fortunes and titles upon tho chance-devices at Monte Carlo has met with the popularity of “The Guests of Hercules.” A Gnumont Graphic a beautiful scenic and a special two reel comedy will also he shown and the orchestra will render a first class programme. Pollards hare pleasure in announcing, tho coming, to Hokitika of P. W. Griffith’s wonderful picture “Way Down East” on Wednesday and Thursday next when seats for this big attraction ran he secured at the Miss Mclntosh's shop, next Theatre.
