WELLINGTON, August 1. TIIE HOUSE. The House met at 2.30 p.m. On the motion of Mr Hockley, Te Puke County Bill was introduced and read a first time. Naval Defence Amendment Bill was read a second time on the motion of Sir H. Rhodes, Minister of Defence. The Surveyors Institute and Local Bodies Loans Amendment Bills were put through committee, read a third time and passed. In connection with the latter hill, amendments were added on the motion of the Minister—(l) Permitting local bodies to raise small loans to provide work for the unemployed, and (2) permiting local bodies to ndd tbe cos£ of flotation to antecedent liability loans The House rose at' 9.15 p.m.
