On Wednesday Pollards are screening a I’athe ; Feature starring Blanche Sweet in “The Girl in the Web.” A drama of a girl who is enmeshed in a web of jealousy and falsehood, but who untangles herself and wins. It was the dead of night aiid she was alone. What was that strange noise? Why should anyone be prowling around at this hour of night and near her\room? And the events of that night enmeshed this girl in a web that accused her of alienating the affections of a married, man, stealing the the jewels and kidnapping a baby. You’ll be surprised and thrilled at this mystery. A comedy, scenic, and Topical complete the bill of fare. On Thursday Pollaflds are presenting a First National feature starring the American beauty, Katherine MacDonald in “Passions Playground.” Beginner's luck favoured Marty Grant tho sweet and unsophisticated little novice from a convent, tho first time she tried the roulette wheel at Monte Carlo in “Passion’s Playground” the First Xaitona! picture starring Katherine MacDonald. And this luck stayed with Alary until she had won a fortune It didn’t lift her in the eyes of Prince Vanno, however, and it only served to single her out as the victim of a pair of parasites. That game marked the beginning of some tragic and romantic experiences in the career of Alary Grant. The story is from “The Guests, of Hercules” the well-known hook on Afonte Carlo life by C. X. and A. M. Williamson.

MCLEAN’S PICTURES. TO-NIGHT.
ROBERT BURNS MEMORIAE BENEFIT. At the Princess Theatre to-night the usual Tuesday night picture show is being generously donated by Air 11. AlcLean as a liencfit for tlie Robert Burns Memorial statue to be erected on Cass Square shortly. Air McLean is putting on a good programme, one of general interest and well varied. There will be a popular gazette and an amusing comedy, as also a further episode of toe interesting serial “The Branded Four.” The star feature is “The Dangerous Paradise” starring Louise TTufT. Poor Iris! She went to all the trouble of hiring a make-believe husband to permit Norman to flirt with her. and now he won’t. What was the poor girl to do? Yon’il know what she did and enjoy finding out if you see Louise Huff in “The Dangerous Paradise.” The programme is bright and entertaining and patrons will enjoy a good entertainment. The effort to raise additional funds towards tho Burns Afemoria] is a praiseworthy one. Burns is tho peoples’ poet and the memorial has been rendered possible b.v the liberality of a local citizen. The statue is being carved from a special design and will be a very fine monument to add to the town’s embellishments. There are very few places of the size of Hokitika in the world which can boast of so many interesting monuments. The one proposed to be added will be a very fitting addition. Robert Burns was the composer of “Auld Lang Syne”, and at the close of the entertainment to-night McLean's orchestra will pay the well-known air -and the audience will be invited to join in tho singing of the World’s anthem. The Caledonian Pipe Band will parade prior to the entertainment. The usual picture prices will be charged and seats may he reserved without extra fee.
