At the request of the Davis Clip Committee, Tildon and Richards played Washburn and Williams, ostensibly for the purpose of enabling the Coinmi Gee to choose the doubles team for the cup. Tilden and Richards defeated their opponents 6—3, 6—4, I—6, 6—3, clearly demonstrating their superiority in every department of the game. Patterson and Anderson defeated Wertheim and William Johnson in an exhibition match 2—6, 6—2, 6—4.
