To-day’s developments indicate the end of th" coal and railways strikes is not distant. Vr Harding had a conference with the leaders of the railway strike and Ihe executive are urging the men to iel urn to work, the disputes being submitted for rehearing by the LaIrotir Board. Unless a hitch occurs, the strike wil possibly be over in fortyeight hours. Meanwhile the striking ear repairmen have reached an agreement with the Baltimore-Ohio railway. So far as the coal strike is concerned, the various owners in Pennslyvania and Indiana offered to meet the strikers at a nation-wide conference. Lewis (president of the United Mine Workers) declared the miners had admittedly won. A call for a general conference is going out in a few days.
