' “Seven per cent is out of proportion these hard times,” said Mr C. Walfe (Springs) at ,:i meeting of the Canterbury Counties’ Association, in moving a resolution protesting against the hank rate to local bodies. Mr Wolfe said that the Bank of England rate had fallen, and the hanks should know that any money they lent was safe and was being used for public benefit. Mr Wolfe’s motion was carried:
