Cycling Road Race
TO STAFEORD AND BACK
The cycling road race from the Pioneers’ Monument in Hokitika to Stafford and hack, a distance of about 17 miles, took place yesterday afternoon under most favorable circumstances. The weather and roads were perfect and there was very little breeze. Considerable interest was shown in *!"■ contest and there was a good crowd gathered at the finishing post to witness the conclusion. The result was ri“ follows: — _> H. Blackmon (lOmin handicap) 1. seen. -- ■ D. Finch CIO secs) 4. lime s;> nun. E. Best (7secs) 5. Time 53 min 19 HL A George (scratch) put up the fastest time 48min 39 2-5 secs. L. Gibbous had the misfortune to puncture near Flowery Creek which prevented him from completing the course.
