POLLARD'S PICTURES,

FIVE MINUTES FROM BROADWAY TO-NIGHT.

Pollards arc screening a First National feature at. tlie Princess Theatre to-night entitled “Forty Five Minutes from Broadway,” starring Charles Ray. IV lien George M, Cohan wrote “id Minutes from Broadway,” his tremcml--ously popular comedy-drama, a picturisation which has just heen released hy the First National with the popular cinema star Charles Ray, in the title role., it whs his intention to write the host play of his career. And when it was produced and later revived after eight years, Mr Cohan declared that he had succeeded in his purpose. Thissplendid picture with Charles Ray at his best comes fo the Princess Theatre to-night. No more fitting screen star could have been selected to follow George M. Cohan in this stage success, than Charles Ray, and the latter wears the mantle of Cohan in the role of Kid Burns, that proves him to he one of the most capable actors the screen has ever produced. The role of Kid Burns, the ex-prize fighter from New York City, who goes to New Rochelle to help a friend is one of the best Charles Ray has over played, and his assumption of this characterisation in “Forty Five Minutes From Broadway,” will stand out as one of the bright s|>ots of his successful career. The supporting pictures includ# the latest Oaumont Graphic and a two reel comedy “Speed.”
