PRESTON YARDS SALE. On Saturday afternoon a shipment of prime sheep comprising 160 wethers and 140 ewes, landed from the Tutanekai earlier in the day. were submitted to public competition on account of Messrs Nolan Bros of Jackson’s Bay. Notwithstanding the sheep having >een four days at sea, they landed in tip top order, not one being lost on the trip. , c There was a good attendance ot butchers and competition was keen, the whole line being quitted in 10 minutes. Messrs W\ Jeffries and Co. were the auctioneers and the following pens, with prices were sold : Twenty-six wethers at 28s; 54 wethers at 27s Gd, 52 wethers at 28s; 27 wethers at 28s 6d. Three pens of 30 each, ewes, made 23s 9d and two pens of ewes containing 51 made 23s 6d. Tt was generally agreed that the shipment was the finest seen at Preston Yards for a long time, and Mr D. Nolan who was present to see his sheep sold was complimentod on the quality of his yarding.
