“GOLF-WIDOWS.” NEW YORK, May 20
Too much golfing by husbands, now appears to be definitely established as a ground of divorce in the United States. Following the example of Mrs Hurley the wife of a prominent Detroit business man, a second “golf-widow,” Mrs Storking Hayward, whose husband is a wealthy manufacturer of Montclair, New Jersey secured a divorce yesterday on tlie ground that lie had practically deserted her in order to play golf. Their marital troubles, Alts Hayward stated, began in 1911), a year after the marriage, when the husband joined a golf club. His affection for her began to cool, and he spent an increasing amount of time on the links. By 1914 he was hardly ever home and spent most of his time journeying from one golf tournament to another. By 1918 the husband would not speak to her except to swear when ltis game showed signs of deteriorating. Next year, without advising her, lie went to Europe to play golf. On his return he walked into the house, said “How do you do?” changed his clothes and left for the links without another word.
Mrs Hayward then packed up, took the children and returned to her mother.
