The fumu-al of the late Mrs Krako.vsky took place yesterday morning. Requiem mass was celebrated at St Maiy’s Church at 7 a.m., the cortege leaving thence at 10 o’clock. There were a good many mourners present, and many wreaths and lloral emblems weiv deposited by friends. Rev l)r Kennedy conducted the services at the church and giaveside.
The following pal'agritph appeared in the New Zealand “Times” of last Wednesday “I have just been on the West Coast for a week, and did not see the sun once,” said Mr Scantlebury at a meeting of the Nelson Education Board.” Apparently Mr Scantlebury failed to visit the capital of Westland, which has been enjoying perfect winter weather during the last couple of months, with frosts at night and fine clear sunshiny days. The official record for Hokitika for June shows there were 140 hours 27 minutes of sunshine, and only two days therein without sunshine, while for the present month of July to the; 20th there has been 100 hours 18 minutes of sunshine and two sunless (lays.
