Tlie voiilig woman, Gladys TTowarth who was picked up on the railway line near Te Kumi early yesterday morning suffering from severe injuries of the head and face, succumbed at four this morning. Deceased had been suffering from insomnia and was under the treatment of a doctor. It is believed the woman left Te TCniti in the earlv-mor-ning, and being extremely hard of bearing was unaware of the approach of the train.

Burglars entered the premises of Pitcher and Co (cycle merchants) during the night and took about £SO from the safe. Admission was gained by breaking a window, the intruder securing the key of the safe where it was usually hidden, and l herefore is believed to bo familiar with the premises.
