(Before AV. Meldrum Esq., R.AL) Police v. A. Harris, a charge of cycling at night without a light. Fined 5s and costs 7s. Same v. .J. Myers, similar offen:e. Fined 5s and costs 7s. Same v. F. Cameron, a charge of riding a bicycle on a footpath in North Rev ell Street. Fined 5s and costs 7s. ARAIS ACT. police v. W. H. Little, a charge of having two unregistered firearms in his possession. Convicted and ordered to pay costs 28s. ■ cattle trespass. !
Tin* Police charged I,auric George with allowing a bull to trespass on the railway line between Awatuna and Ad'aluira. Mr WclTs for defendant pleaded not guilty. Evidence was given by ('. Dennison (ganger), and defendant, the latter acknowledging the bull had broken through the fences Fined os and costs 395. CIVIL CASES. All the debt cases set down for hearing had been settled out of court. LICENSING ACT. The Police charged four residents with being on licensed premises (Post Office Hotel) during prohibited flours. One pleaded guilty and was convicted and ordered to pay costs. One did not appear and was convicted
(second offence) and fined 20s and costs 7s. Two others for whom Air Wolls appeared, pleaded not guilty, who claimed that they had gone into the hotel to see a sick friend a boarder at the hotel. After hearing evidence of Sergt. King and Mr Stapley (the hoarder). His Worship held that the two men were not the boiia fide guests of tho boarder and convicted both. One a sec- ' ond offender was fined 20s and costs
7s. and the other a third offender. 10s and costs 7s. The police charged two residents with
lieing on licensed premises (Masonic Hotel) during prohibited hours. .One did not appear and was convicted and ordered to pay costs 7s. The other
pleaded not guilty. Air Wells appearing for him. After hearing Sergt. King and defendant. His Worship said he was satisfied it was not a business appointment. Defendant would bo convicted and fined 40s and costs 7s.
