(Received this day at 11.30 a.m.) LONDON, July 18. The “Recorder” in Dublin awarded £15,050 damages to “Freeman’s Journal” against Dublin Corporation tor the destruction of their premises by Republican arms, on 29th March.
AN AMBUSH. (Received this day at 11.30 a.m.) LONDON, July 10. 1 Republicans ambushed a funeral oi a Free State soldier who was killed in the street of Gort, in Galway. Ihe hodv which was accompanied by deceased’s parents and several unarmed comrades, was attacked on its way to S, Tlie ambushers were firing from both sides of the road when Commandant Rooney was killed. One car was overturned in the ditch. Several unarmed Free State troops were taken prisoner. The funeral car broke through the ambush, picking up the dead Commandant, and reached Galway. Free Stators are now pursuing tin Irregulars who still hold the prisoners. SEEKING PEACE: LONDON. July Blit is reported the Irish Irregulars are seeking a peace parley.
