EX-BARRISTER’S PLEA.
AYELLINGTON, July 18
The Court of Appeal this afternoon commenced the bunting of argument in the matter of an application for readmission as a barrister and solicitor by Mr J. London, foimerly a wellknown barrister and solicitor of Auck land.
Mr Blair, for the applicant, stated that Mr London had been suspended in 1911 for a period of one year for serious professional misconduct-, and that ill 1917 lie was struck off tlie roll of solicitors. In this ease, Air London had received payment of £IOO from a Mr Fletcher, for obtaining front the National Bank the sum of .£SOO, which was on fixed deposit with tlio bank in Fletcher’s name. The Court had Belli that the charge was not justifiable, and it ordered Air London's name to be struck off the rolls. Afr Blair dealt first with the charges that had Boon made against London, endeavouring to show that there were extenuating circumstances in his eondaet. After London had been struck off the. rolls, he went farming near .Morrinsville, but this venture had not been a success and 1 1 is estate had Ix’en assigned to his creditors. Affidavits had been filed by many of London's neighbours in support of his present good character. London was anxious to get back into practice, in older that lie might lie aide to keep down the charges on In's farm, and ultimately pay Ifis creditors. The ease is not finished.
