The death of Mrs Ellen Louisa Tottenham, took place at Westport oil Saturday at midday after a comparatively brief illness. Deceased was good worker in connection with various sporting institutions and did invalii. able work on behalf of the Surf Club. She was a native of Nelson. 54 years of age. She is survived by one son, Mi George Tottenham, mirier, a nianie.l daughter. Mrs J. Haitigan. two sisters -ilesdames J. Brown and A, McDowell and one brother. Mr G. May.
Joe Rawiri, with a burly mop of bail- almost as prolific in growth as some of the followers of Rtia. was
brought up at the Wanganui Court and duly remanded. In conversation Joe remarked (states the “Herald”); ‘•f’v corrv, to two fingers very sore.”
It will be remembered that when he bolted from the police one of [he shots went through his right arm, and this has evidently numbed the fingers. Joe also stated that when he took cover from, the police, he sat in water up to his neck for two hours. “It was very cold.” he added, “and when T came out T had no hoots, so I thinght T bettor go home.”
