BRITISH BUDGET. LONDON, July 1 I. On tlie third reading of the Finance Bill, Mr Asquith said the Budget was founded on conjecture and hope. Although since the armistice nearly 11 hundred millions of war assets have been realised, none bad gone towaids reducing the debt. Instead it bad been treated as revenue. GERMAN FINANCIAL CRISIS. LONDON, July 14

The “Daily Mail’s” correspondent in Berlin reports that reckless printing of paper money in Germany continues. The weekly report of the Reiehsbnnk announces a further increase of nearly 4,000,000,000 marks, bringing the total to 1 $3,000,000,000 marks. This weekly printing of money is an easy way of providing payment of weekly hills, hut is incomparable with sane finance. Every new issue pushes the mark further downward. The “Daily Mail,” in a leading article, states it is pleased to observe the Allied Commission is not hoodwinked hv Germany’s plea. It is Germany’s methods, not the Allied demands, that arc to blame for the total German national debt. The British currency is £159,000,000 against Germany’s' C 7,500,000,000. Yet Germany says she cannot iind £2.500,000 a month, whereas Britain has to find £1,000,000 interest on her debt to the United States.
