The course was very heavy, hut there was a good attendance. The totalisator figures were £59,401, compared with £85,416 on the second day of last year’s two days' meeting. WELLINGTON. July 16. Tn the South Canterbury Steeplechase Romance has been handicapped, at 11.13. RACING IN VICTORIA. MELBOURNE, July 16. The Leamington Hurdles resulted: Chrysostom 1. Pistolier 2, King Neptune 3. There were nine starters, Chrysostom led throughout and won by two lengths. The time was 4mm 3\ sees., equalling I’islolier’s previous record. Sir Minemon, the winner of the 1919 National Hurdles pulled up in the race and afterwards dropped dead in )iis stall. HORSE DESTROYED. BRISBANE. July 16 En'l Kitchener, the winner of two Brisbane Clips, was injured in running at the Ascot meeting, and was destroved.
