The usual weekly cut-lire and dance took place at St Mary’s Club Booms on Wednesday evening. The first prises were won by Mrs Fitzgerald and Mrs \ Lynch, and Messrs J. Mclntyre and V Freitas. Miss M. Pascoe supplied the music for the dance which was largely attended, and under the direction of Mr F. Grmtfsky, :1s M-C-, wa. kept moving until a late hour.

The members of the British Empire Exhibition Mission consisting of Major to A. Belcher, C.8.K., M.A., CM v. Christie,..Mr t, W. Bates, (Secretary), and Mr M. O’Brien, arrived in Hokitika this morning by motor car, shortly before noon, and were met on arrival by the Mayor, County Chairman, and other public body representatives. This afternoon the party were taken to the Rirnu dredge and thence via Rimu to Kanien Lake. Tonight at 7.30 o’clock the official wgceme takes place in the Town Hall.
