An Irish Army headquarters official casualty list of the Dublin fighting gives i 9 soldiers killed, 111 wounded, 75 civilians killed, 281 wounded. Barton with a dozen other prisoners escaped from Portoliello barracks. The authorites state the escape was wasted labour, as it was intended to release them tins week, as being of no military importance.
