Constable’s Bravery
TRIBUTE FROM CORONER, [nY TELEGItAPII —PER PRESS ASSOCIATION'] AUCKLAND, July 10. At the inquest on the death of Nathaniel Hayden, the victim of a. fire in Grey Street on the morning of Juno 10th the Coroner .Mr A. Wilson, complimented Constable Wilson on tho part he took in endeavouring to save deceased. Constable Wilson stated in company with a. fireman, he went in an , upstairs room full of stnoke. 7he fireman was overcome and the Constable assisted him down the ladder. Witness entered another room ill search of deceased, but was himself overcome, not remembering being carried out. Subsequently witness again entered the house. The Coroner said: “Yon went into the burning building on three occasions, at the risk of your own life. For a. very long time I have had a great conception of the deeds of members of Hie police force, which Is a force the public should lie proud of. I feel that bv your efforts on the morning of the lire you have added something to the honours list of the force. 1 will ninko special representation to tho Minister of Justice concerning your brave act, which, I trust, will be suitably recognised.
