NEWCASTLE,’July (5. The Anglican Synod by 70 to 13 passed a resolution that the Synod approved of the general principle of autonomy for the Church of England in Australia. MOTION OF PROTEST. A patriotic demonstration at tile Town Hall passed a resolution expressing abhorrence at the campaign of murder,' cruelty find spoliation rampant in Ireland culminating in the assassination of General Wilson. •
CENSURE DEBATE. SYDNEY, July C. In the Assembly. Mr Dooley, Sir G. Fuller, Mr Bruxner continued the debate on the censure motion. An adjournment was made at midnight until to-day. MELBOURNE, July C. In the House of Representatives, as Mr Charlton’s motion was regarded as a motion of no confidence, an adjournment was made till to-day. CENSURE DEBATE. SYDNEY, July 0. In the Assembly, Mr Dooley’s speech consisted of a general sweeping attack of the Government's policy. Sir G. Fuller’s reply severely criticised the late Government’s policy and elaborated his own policy as outlined in the Governor’s speech. Mr Bruxner, without giving a direct undertaking, produced the impression that the Progressive Party would in the main, support the Government programme.
THE STOLEN YACHT. BRISBANE, July (i,
The yacht, which is claimed to he identical with the Rasta, hut upon which the name Oneato is painted, has now been removed to a place of safety. The vessel is forty feet long, with a torpedo stern and two masts. She was seen off Yeppoon some days before shy came in.
BRISBANE PRINTER AND PREMIER. BRISBANE, July 6
Following upon a recent speech wherein he criticised the Government’s policy regarding the Government Printing Office, Mr Gumming, .the Government Printer was removed from his position. Mr Cuinmiug told an interviewer that after his speech, the Premier called on him at- the office and asked if the report of the speech were correct. When told it was, he accused him of acting in the Nationalist Party interests. This Cummings denied. The Premier gave him to the next morning to make an apology. This was ret used and lie wits then given four weeks’ salary fn lieu of notice. Cuimuing declared the whole trouble arose through his lighting for men on his staff, who were being retired. , BRISBANE. July 6 It is staled that those aboard the yacht declared they came from Tahiti. STEAMER TROUBLE. - MELBOURNE, July 0. It is understood the Government line of steamers is seeking from every maritime union guarantees against further industrial disputes, ami these will have to be- given before a. normal service is resumed.
