COMMUNITY SINGING.

Despite the unpropituous weather on Saturday night, there was another crowded attendance at ttie Town Hall for the fortnightly sing-song. The programme was organised hy Mr A. H. I awn. with Mr Leu Aldridge as a very canahle conductor. The orchestra included Mr Lawn at the piano (a host in himself), violins, Miss Wiren, Messrs Carter and C. Ross; flutes, Messrs Cihlmns, McFadven and Dawsou; cornet, Mr Ross. The local audience has now got over all shyness, and sang right heartily. The conductor pitted one side of the hall against the ether, the right hand side reinforced hy the I lari Hari and Kiwi footballers tailing the palm. A very pleasing effect was obtained by asking the female voices to sing alone. During"the evening solos were sung hy Misses Davidson and .Tones and Messrs Aldridge. M Fad veil and (ribbons. Miss Daly was the' accompanist for the lady soloists. The singing was all very hearty, and the conductor was able to get light and shade into some of the members. The folk were all anxious to sin -, and the programme was not disposed of till after 10 o’clock. Mr Evans, in the absence of Hon Michel returned thanks to .tile audience for their patronage extended and to the performers and organiser for their special help.
