Tiik British Empire Exhibition Mission to visit this district about the middle of next month. The great exhibition at Homo will be on n large scale. The business community of Great Britain are financing the movement fo an extent of upwards of a millioh. It is calculated there will be an attendance of ten million people, the average dailv number of visitors being (50.000. It is to b«- essentially a British exhibition. and the people behind it are the British nation. The interest displayed at Home shows that the magnitude of the Exhibition aimed at will be attained. It is to be held in the English summer of 1924. Although companions may be said to be odious, the thought at once, occnrs and is worthy of mention, that the Westland Jubilee Exhibition is proposed to be held \n the antipodean summer of 1924. There will ho a few months between, and the further thought occurs that it might be possible to arrange for some , interchange of exhibits between the two exhibitions. When the Mission reaches hero, the idea will he worth mentioning, and enlisting the sympathy of the visitors for some contributions to the art section at least of the local exhibition. The support might oven go fur tiler after details are discussed, md it would lie of some service at least to talk over the proposition. The Mis. sion members are naturally very eot husiastio about the object of their tour and rnueli valuable information should he gleaned in any case in regard to «.o important a movement as that of an exhibition open to all parts of the Empire.

Tun interest evinced by tbe settlers in the visit of the agricultural instructors who have lately toured the district is a very healthy sign. One important result is the fillip given to the proposal to instnl a butter-making plant at the Whtarna cheese factory, to enable tho=c who have hitherto been engaged in grazing stock to go in for dairying, and by borne separation send forward their cream over the Intervening distance for-butter making. The move will add considerably to the value of the output of the factory in question, and by r"nson of the quick transit' by motor now possible overland, the product will not deteriorate through long drawn out transport delay. The bridging of the Tattle Wanganui river removes the last serious obstacle in the carriage of the produce north from the factory. To ensure reguTitity in the delivery of the cream at the Wntnroa factory, fE will be neecosery in the interests of f.fnj

farmers south of th o Waitangi river, to have the bridging of that troublesome crossing taken in hand as soon as possible. In the late visit of the instructors, special interest in the dairying developments was manifested at both Waitalia and Ross indicating the possibilities of expansion in both centres. .Encli district is capable of considerable erowth in dairy produce, and from the interest shown, tbe local people are evidently alive to the opening. The visit of the instructors has certainly been worth while, an,l all concerned in its promotion and carrying out are to he congratulated on the success achieved.
