A SENSATIONAL ENDING. WELLINGTON, June 29
There was rather a sensational ending to a charge against tt yvell-known trainer at Trentham, of tampering with n girl not quite fourteen. In the box, the girl said be was not the man, although she had told the police and her parents that lie yvas. Six* alleged she did not know who the man yvas, and had never seen him since, nor could she give ft description of him. The parents said the girl had told the same story up to Tuesday night, and then said if was not accused. Medical evidence yvas that the girl had been tampered with. The S.M. said the • ease/would hav • to be dismissed, but lie refused expenses to the parents, saying they would have to put up with it if they had a lying little daughter. _______
