N.S.W. DEFEAT MAORIS. AUSTRALIAN AND N.Z. CABLE ASSOCIATION. SYDNEY, June 20. At Rugby Ne \v South Wales beat tbo Maoris by 28 (six tries, two concerted and two penalty goals) to 13, (two converted tries and one penalty goal).
Tbo game was hard throughout, though lacking the brilliancy and keenness of Saturday’s match. The reversal of form is duo primarily to the vast improvement of N.S-W-’s forwards, who benefited considerably by the inelustion of Davis, Fowles, and Smith, who played front row through. New Zealand, occupying similar positions. The Maoris were severely handicapped by injury to Jacob’s knee. Matui was also injured. Phillips opened for the visitors, dashing across the line after a combined rush Jacobs kicked a, goal. The half-time scores were: Wales 14, Maoris 5. New South Wales added another fourteen points in the second spell. I’cina left a couple of opponents standing in a race for the line and Akurin goaled and later kicked a penalty. The Maoris now have eight men on the injured list ns a result of knocks in two matches. As a. consequence Wednesday’s fixture against Metropolis has boon postponed till July.

Owing to the death in his family, (*. St George (Southland) is unable to play in the Tnter-Tslnnd match. R. Mnthoson (Otago) has been appointed to play half hack.
MOUATT’S CASE. WELLINGTON, June 23
The Wellington Rugby Union held a special meeting to-night to consider the re-opening of llu 1 ease of Mountt, the Berhnmpore forward who was ordered off the field last Saturday during the match against Retone, and was subsequently suspended for three playing Saturdays. After hearing more of the matter this evening, the Union decided there was nothing to warrant an alteration of its previous decision. LEAGUE MAORIS BADLY BEATEN. SYDNEY, June 26. The Maori League footballers played Metropolitan ns a, curtain-raiser to the match Kangaroos versus Australasia. Although the home team was only about the fourth best New South Wales combination, the visitors ran-lv penetrated the former’s territory. Metropolitan were six to nil at interval and afterwards scored with monotonous rapidity. The Maoris’ tinkling was.pathetically weak, and the filial scores were: Metropolitan 38, (ten tries and four goals), Maoris nil. Tti the contest. Faulkner was carried off the field with'Vis • leg' fractured above the ankle.
