KICKED BY A HORSE. WARM ATE, June 23. James Swaney, aged 12, was kicked on the forehead by a horse, which fractured his skull. He was hospitalled and operated on. his condition being satisfactory. VISITING AN OUTPOST. WELLINGTON, June 24. The Governor-General and Lady Jel•licoe returned to Wellington yesterday from a visit to the Chatham Islands. The voyage was made on HALS. Chatham. The rnip arrived at 8.45 on Wednesday morning. After the >el Stipendiary Mng.if.ti ate (Dr Clay coni had made an official call on the Governor on hoard, their Excellencies landed mid received a hearty welcome. An address of welcome was presented by Dr Clayton. Governor Jellicoo replied expressing satisfaction at having the opportunity to visit the Island and meet the people there. He read a message to the people from Air Massey. The party visited different parts of .the Island. Lady Jcllicoe presented the school children with toys which she brought from Wellington for the purpose. A mimlier of gifts were made to their Excellencies. The Chatham was thrown open for inspection by the inhabitants. Their Excellencies about 4.30 returned to the ship, and loft for Wellington.
