Alaj or Alt. Hotly, writing in “Sporting Life” denies Kirkwood is an Australian and says: —“Should Kirkwood win, honour will not go to Australia, but to the country of his birth.”
The editor defends Kirkwood’s nationality. and quotes Air Hutchinson’s opinion that Kirkwood is the greatest golfer in tlq- history of the game. Alec Herd writing in the “Daily Express” forecasts that Hagen "ill prove the winner of the championship. LONDON. June 22. Kirkwood did the first round against Whifcombo in 79 and the second in 7b.
