The Duke of Connaught sent a hundred. The King, in a message to the nation said:—“The Queen and I are deeply touched by to-day’s remarkable demonstrations. Our joy in welcoming our .tear son is increased by the affectionate enthusiasm of hi s reception by 'as crowds in th e streets. He lias safely returned to London after h,s responsible tour. I am confident my people share our humble thanks to God on this memorable day.”
