Mothers’ Union.
A well attended meeting of women J was held in All Saints’ Schoolroom j yesterday afternoon for the purpose of j forming a branch of the Mothers’ Union. 1 Mrs AY. O. Roberts, President of the j Canterbury Union explained the aims and objects of the Union and gave a brief account of the growth and work of the Union in New Zealand. A large number (if those present signified then intention of ioining. Mrs Purehas was] elected President and a committee was formed to make arrangements for future meetings. An admittance service will ho held on Friday at 3 p.m. in All Saints’ Church. The three chief objects of the Union •iro as follows: — 1 .—To uphold the sanctity of marriage. ~ 2 To awaken in mothers ot an classes a. sense of their great responsibility as mothers in the training of their hovs and girls (the future fathers and mothers of the Empire), and 3 —To organise in every a hand of mothers who will unite in pr«yer and seek bv their own example to lead their families in purity and holiness Women of all denominations are welcomed to the (of life) ranks of the Mothers’ Union.
