Meat Control Board.
I AVELbINGTON, .June 15. Regulations have been gazetted under the Meat Export Control Act, 1921-22, prescribing the manner ol the election of producers’ representatives on the Meat Export Control Board. The I'egulations provide that, for the purpose of the election of producers’ representatives, a Dominion conference of. delegates shall lie held in August. 3923, and each year thereafter, the date and placed to be fixed by the Board. This Dominion Conference is to comprise 140 delegates, 70 of whom are to be elected by stockowners (including sheepfanners), and 70 by sheepfarmers alone. For electing those delegates the Board is to divide the Dominion into sueli electoral districts to consist of one or more counties, and the Board is to determine the number of delegates to he elected for each dis-
trict for st.ock-owners and sheopowners. respectively. A list of stockowners and sheopowners in each district is to he prepared by the Board, and provision for inspecting the lists and raising objections thereto is made. It is provided that the name of any person shall not appear on the list of stockowners or sheopowners for more than one electoral district, hut any person having qualifications for enrolment in more tlinn one district, for which lie may bo enrolled.
The number of delegates to be eleci- ; ed for any one district is required, us ■ far as practicable, to bear to 70 the same proportion as the numbers of stock and sheep respectively hear to the total number of stock and sheep
in the Dominion. Meetings for the election of delegates are to be held in July each year. The chairman of the Board is to submit to the Dominion Conference each year for its consideration the Board’s report and balancesheet for the previous year, and the delegates to the confercenco are to elect the producers’ representatives on the Board in the manner prescribed. The names of the persons thus selected are to he forthwith forwarded to the Minister of Agriculture, and submitted by him to the Covetnor-Gcnernl for appointment. Other regulations provide that the travelling allowances, fees, or other remuneration of members of the Board shall ho such as are from time to time determined by resolution of tho Board. AYithout limiting any authority conferred on the Board by the Act, the Board shall have power, for the purpose of carrying on its business, to borrow moneys by wav of bank overdraft or otherwise however, and may give as security therefore debentures, mortgages, or other securities charged on any or all of (lie assets of the Board.
