WESTLAND HOSPITAL BOARD
MONDAY, JUNK 10th. The Board met at 8 p.tu. Present:— Messrs J. J. Breeze (Chairman), G. II ■ Blank, J. Jlitehie, 11. Monk, M. IIHu riel l and W. Jeffries. The Chairman extended a welcome to Mr \Y Jeffries who took his seat in succession to Mr W. Searle resigned. Mr Jeffries hrielly acknowledged the welcome. An apology for Mr Morel was made hr Mr Jeffries. ' The minutes were confirmed and correspondence outward approved. Mr Jeffries stated that in Christchurch when the deputation from Westland met the Prime Minister they urged that effect ho given to t-.ie Board’s request for an increased subsidy. The subject was strongly pressed on Mr Massey by lion Michel, Messrs Morel, Kvans and himself, Mr Massey making a reply on lines of those made |, v Hon Mr Barr when in Hokitika. The Ci. airman stated that I here was a court case to he heard at Kumara on Wednesday arising out of an alleged assault in which a patient and the Mas-

It was icsolved on the motion of Mr I’lirrell, seconded by Mr Jeffries, to write to a nephew ol the patient asking him that if lm had ally complaints in make, to make them direct to the Hoard. The Secretary submitted a statement, of the drainage contract account, which was laid on the table. The Chairman and .Mr Jeffries were appointed to wait on the Porough .Council to arrange lor a price for water suppl\ at hospital. It, was resolved to hold the annual ball in August and to call a meeting of ladies for the purnose. DEPUTATION. A deputation from St John Ambulance consisting of Mrs Wood, Miss I truce and Mr (Jmiifsky nailed on 1-lie Hoard in reference to a request by the latter for the Ambulance to arrange lor the laic of flic motor ambulance being lorwardeil by the Delence Department. The mat ter was discussed at some length and then the matter was referred to the town members of the Hoard and the executive of St John Ambulance to confer, as lo charges and upkeep, an offer made by Mr 0. Wood lo temporarily house the ambulance being accepted with thanks. Die deputation was then thanked by the ( hairman for their interest in the matter a,ml retired. The Hoard rose at 9.0 n p.m.
