POLLARD’S PICTURES.
“Mother O’ Mine” Monday night’s great seven reel Associated Porducer’s super feature is a motion picture that will stand the wear ancl tear of the most critical screen audiences. Woven into this thrilling and charming story of mother love and adding to its
strength and excellence are five, strikingly contrasted characterisations inter. j preted by siioh all star artists as Claire i McDoweil. Lloyd Hughes, Joseph Kilifour, Betty Blythe, and Betty ' Rose Clark. The story told concerns the eff--1 orts of a mother to save her son falsely accused of murder. The plot has been developed with a wealth of original incident with many thrills and dramatic situations.
McLEAN’S PICTURES. Mr McLean presents to-night the mother of “Humoresque”—-Vera Gordon —in a greater picture still, “The Greatest Love.” The strength of a picture, the excellence of the acting, anil the power of direction can, in the majority of cases, be judged from tbe brevity and rarity of titles used. In Selznicks first de luxe attraction, “The Greatest Love,” starring Vera Gordon, this feature is particularly noticeable, so perfectly arc the emotions depicted on the faces of the actors that the marked absence of sub-titles passes unnoticed. The story unrolls smoothly. harmoniously, without a jarring note. Then, at the end of the great trial scene, where the mother awaits flic verdict in a small room off the court the family friend enters and announces that the judge has found the prisoner guilty. Not one word of title is Hashed during the entire scene. Not one is necessary. Tlie expressions, natuial and spontaneous, are sufficient. So it is throughout the entire picture, the story is told in action.
Tlie supports include the comedy “The Lost Detective,” and n continuation of the stirring serial “The King of the Circus.”
