Full publicity is now being given by llie promoters to the British AAoild Trade Expedition, and so far the date of departure, June Ist has not been altered. A very handsome booklet has been printed setting out the details ol tin* venture. In the words of this booklet: ‘‘Headed l,y men whose names are well-known in tbe business world ; with every good wish of the Department of Overseas ITado ; .helped in every way by the British Legion, with Karl llaig at its head; the twin-screw s.s. British Trade, a 'first class' liner of 10.1)00 tons, has been fitted out for the purpose, of a Bloating Exhibition, and will sail on June Ist, carrying with it representative British goods of every description devised to appeal to foreign markets. First-class accommodation is provided for 250 representatives. and also hold accommodation, in order that the exhibits may l>o varied »t each port of call to lines appealing to that particular country.” The navigating captain of the vessel has lately been chosen. Captain Dye is not yet forts' years of age, but possesses a unique record of seamanship lie was a teacher of navigation at the South Shields Marine School, anil subsequently bad experience in saif and steam. Tfe was ordinary master in
1907 at the age of 25, and extra master in I9OS taking command early in 1909 Since then ho has commanded many fine vessels. As ho has visited every port shown on tho itinerary, lie is fitted in a very practical manner for the position to which he has been appoint’d!.
While ill New* Zealand waters tourists who me travelling merely for pleasure will bo able to land at Dunedin, and have eighteen days in which to tour the country before rejoining the vessel at Auckland.
